5/23/2004 · Basically the CG125 is designed to be a rock-solid commuter, and is very good at it’s job. The trade-off is that it’s pretty detuned and won’t take much tuning. Putting a larger front chain sprocket (1 or 2 teeth) or smaller rear sprocket (less 3 or 4 teeth) might give you a bit more top speed. It depends where the power is on the rev range.

8/27/2009 · With a combined weight of 20 stone on board, the CG-125 won’t hit 60mph on the level, at all. Ever. The CG-125 is a low powered, single cylinder commuter bike. Things like top speed and 0-60 times aren’t important or even relevant on a bike like that. What is important with a commuter bike, is fuel economy (over 100mpg from a CG-125).

Wire tie the exhaust bolts in such a way as to keep them from rotating loose from the heat and vibration. Add a wider flat washer on the exhaust bracket mount to give it more surface area to absorb the vibration.

You might not find it pull any faster than stock, unless you can increase the engine power to cope with the extra speed needed. I think Mr. Honda selected the gear ratios very carefully before putting the bike on the market for the best setup. If looking for speed, go up 1 tooth on the front spocket.
